Severance

2022

The premise is almost purely formal: a surgical procedure splits a worker's memory clean in two, so that the person who clocks in has no knowledge of the person who clocks out, and vice versa. Dan Erickson builds Severance around that division as both a workplace thriller and an identity puzzle, letting the office floor operate as a hermetically sealed world that gradually reveals its own strangeness from the inside. Adam Scott anchors it — his severed self navigating corridors and quarterly reports with no horizon beyond them. The show's method is slow accumulation: each episode tightens what the characters can know, and the audience's advantage over them remains narrower than expected.

House of the Dragon

2022

Set roughly two centuries before the events of Game of Thrones, this prequel series is structured as a slow-burn succession drama — the kind where the catastrophe is visible long before anyone can stop it. Martin and Condal build the conflict through court procedure rather than battlefield spectacle: a king's naming of his daughter as heir, the son who follows, and the factions that crystallize around both. With fifteen dragons in service to one house, the Targaryen dynasty arrives at peak power and begins, almost immediately, to fracture along dynastic lines. The show works as political theater, positioning Matt Smith and an ensemble of rival claimants inside an institution that's eating itself.

Silo

2023

A sealed underground silo houses the last several thousand people on earth — or so its residents are told. When a sheriff crosses the community's most absolute prohibition and the deaths that follow go unexplained, an engineer named Juliette begins pulling on the same thread. Rebecca Ferguson anchors the series, and Graham Yost builds it as a procedural mystery that uses the silo's physical verticality as both dramatic architecture and social map: the deeper you live, the less you know, and Juliette's investigation moves upward through layers of hierarchy as much as toward any single answer. The world-construction is load-bearing; the show earns its premise by treating the silo as a functioning society with real institutional logic before it starts dismantling it.

The Walking Dead: Dead City

2023

A spinoff that reassigns the most complicated pairing in The Walking Dead's long run — Maggie and Negan, whose history includes an act of violence she has never forgiven — and then drops them into Manhattan, which the series treats as a sealed-off ruin governed by neither law nor clear threat hierarchy. Eli Jorné builds the show around a single extended mission into that island, using the geography of decayed infrastructure as both obstacle and atmosphere. Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan carry the dramatic weight: the mission requires a working alliance, and the alliance requires both characters to hold their history in suspension without quite setting it down.

Stuart Fails to Save the Universe

2026

A comic book store owner who accidentally fractures the multiverse into competing realities is not the obvious choice to fix it — which is more or less the structural engine here. Chuck Lorre, Zak Penn, and Bill Prady build the show as a high-concept farce held inside a deliberately small-scale world: Stuart Bloom, familiar from years as a recurring presence in The Big Bang Theory, now carries the premise rather than supporting it. The comedy runs on that mismatch — catastrophic stakes, deeply provisional hero — while the quantum-interference MacGuffin gives the season something to chase through whatever realities it needs to visit.
